January Second Friday
Join us from 4–8pm for an evening of art, making, and community at the Smith College Museum of Art. Galleries are open until 8pm. SCMA is free and open to all!
From 4–7pm Drop in for hands-on art making in the museum atrium All ages welcome.
Craft your own container to hold something precious, inspired by the woven baskets, lacquer boxes, and ceramic vessels on view in Crafting Worlds: Japanese Decorative Arts from the 18th through 21st Centuries.
Play a memory game featuring Japanese ceramics in the SCMA collection, and then go on a scavenger hunt to find these works in the galleries.
From 4–8pm Come in from the cold and discover art throughout the museum.
This Second Friday choose a single painting at SCMA and spend 10 minutes of uninterrupted time with it. In a world that moves fast, Slow Looking invites you to notice more, see differently, and connect deeply with art (and yourself).
