May 8 Second Friday
SCMA is free and open to all!
Join us from 4–8 p.m. for an evening of art, making, and community at the Smith College Museum of Art.
4–7 p.m.
Drop in for hands-on art making in the Boeckman Sculpture Court (Museum Atrium). All ages welcome.
6–6:45 pm
Visit the 3rd floor of SCMA to explore multi-media artist Katia Kameli's installation, Stream of Stories (Chapter 2), where fables from Sanskrit, Arabic, and French traditions come together. Through these timeless tales, Kameli examines translation, identity, and power, and reimagines how museums tell stories.
Join Lucy Montgomery for an engaging retelling of The Tortoise and the Two Ducks, followed by a conversation about Kameli's creative approach to museum display.
About the speaker: Lucy Montgomery (she/her) is the 2025–27 Bodnar Post-Baccalaureate Curatorial Assistant at SCMA. She holds a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies and Art History from Wellesley College.
4–8 p.m. Explore four floors of art. Friends receive 20% off purchases at the SCMA Shop.
