Meredith Moody Artist Purchase Program
Smith students, apply to participate in the Meredith Moody Artist Purchase program!
Apply by Friday, October 3, 2025: https://bit.ly/scmamoody. | Open to all Smith undergraduates.
- The Purchase Program will be from 4:15–6pm
- Informal buffet dinner to follow from 6–7:30pm.
Each year, SCMA purchases a work by a female-identifying photographer who was awarded a Meredith S. Moody Artist Residency at Yaddo, an artist's retreat in Saratoga Springs, New York. The decision on which work to purchase is made by Smith students.
Participants meet with the artist and museum staff to learn about the artist's work and SCMA's collecting goals, and view available photographic prints. Students look closely at and discuss the works, then vote by secret ballot until a majority is reached in favor of one print which becomes part of SCMA’s permanent collection.
This year's program with S. Billie Mandle will be held at SCMA on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Mandle’s photographs address subjects such as the resilience of nature, the intersection of architecture and spirituality and the components of care within communities.
15 students will be selected to participate and will be notified by October 10.
