Join us for an evening of fun at the November 8  Second Friday! 

From 4–7pm: Hands-on! Art making for all ages, inspired by works on view. Experiment with the collagraph printmaking process using found materials of different textures. Plan out, glue down to cardboard and then print from a composition of flat simple shapes inspired by Cubist art in SCMA’s collection, like Pablo Picasso’s 1919 painting Table, Guitar and Bottle found on the third floor.

From 4–8pm Explore and enjoy four floors of art!

Is art near and dear to your heart? From 4–8 p.m., celebrate the opening of the special exhibition Painting the Persianate World: Portable Images on Paper, Cloth and Clay.  

Mark the new year with an evening of encountering art! Enjoy light refreshments in the Atrium of SCMA while you decorate the cover of your very own sketchbook. Then pick up a drawing prompt to guide your exploration in the galleries.

Focus your attention on details of gesture that we might observe in art. Connect your creativity to care in our interactions with each other. Get hands-on during a drop-in artmaking program!

4-7 pm: Art making for all ages! Trace, draw, embellish and photograph the palm of your hands.
6 pm: Explore the art on view during themed talks in the galleries.
