The whisper of spring is in the air! This April, SCMA is collaborating with the Botanic Garden to celebrate the dawn of warmer weather and the blooming of new life. Hop between the museum atrium and lobby for botanical crafts.
SCMA Smith Student Event!
Smithies, join us in the Atrium on Thursday, February 20, from 6–8pm for Sweet Treats & Tango!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the museum and its galleries are closed until future notice. The Atrium will be open and we will still have sweet treats (6–8pm) and the tango workshop with dance artist Laura Grandi (7–8pm). Open to all Smith students (and their guests).

Artful adventures in and around the museum for 2–5 year-olds and their caregivers! Explore a different theme in each session on selected Fridays throughout the year.
Registered families can join us in the Atrium of the Smith College Museum of Art for open play and art experiences from 9:30–11:30 a.m. Upon arrival, sign up for a museum tour slot for 9:45, 10:15, or 10:45 a.m.
Join us for an evening of art, making, and community at the February 14 Second Friday at the Smith College Museum of Art. SCMA is free and open to all!
4–7pm Hands-on! Art making for all ages, inspired by works on view. Use stamps and collage materials to create an artistic representation of a loved one or of yourself in the form of valentine or mini-portrait to gift, inspired by fascinating faces on view on the second and third floor permanent collection galleries.
4–8pm Explore and enjoy four floors of art!
Join us for an evening of art, making, and community at the January 10 Second Friday at the Smith College Museum of Art! SCMA is free and open to all.
From 4–7 p.m., participate in hands-on art making for all ages. How many different ways can you make a snowflake? Inspired by the repetitions of forms in the art of Younes Rahmoun, create one-of-a-kind snowflakes in all different shapes and textures by cutting, folding, tracing, and painting. Light refreshments will be served in the atrium.
From 4–8 p.m., enjoy and explore four floors of art!

Join us for an evening of fun at the November 8 Second Friday!
From 4–7pm: Hands-on! Art making for all ages, inspired by works on view. Experiment with the collagraph printmaking process using found materials of different textures. Plan out, glue down to cardboard and then print from a composition of flat simple shapes inspired by Cubist art in SCMA’s collection, like Pablo Picasso’s 1919 painting Table, Guitar and Bottle found on the third floor.
