Fall Reception

Join us for the celebratory reception of Composing Color: Paintings by Alma Thomas from the Smithsonian American Art Museum, a special exhibition at SCMA featuring paintings from the world's largest public collection of Alma Thomas's work. Organized around the themes of Space, Earth, and Music, the exhibition invites you to experience Thomas's radiant use of color and the joyful vision that shaped her singular artistic practice.

July Second Friday

4–8 p.m.

July's Second Friday's thread is Blue. Join us from 4–8 p.m. for an evening of art, making, and community at the Smith College Museum of Art. Galleries are open until 8 p.m. SCMA is free and open to all. 

From 4–7 p.m. 
Drop in for hands-on art making in the Boeckman Sculpture Court (Museum Atrium). All ages welcome.

A special evening created just for Smith alums.

Join us during Reunion Weekend for Night at Your Museum—Reconnect with classmates, meet fellow graduates, and enjoy after-hours access to the Smith College Museum of Art.

Spend the evening exploring four floors of art, engaging in conversation, and connecting with museum staff, curators, and the SCMA director in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Don’t miss the chance to take a picture with friends in front of our step-and-repeat wall to capture the moment.

Slow Art (Satur)Day

1–2 p.m.

Step away from the scroll and spend real time with art. Visit SCMA for a self-guided tour of five artworks selected by Aprile Gallant, Mary Walcott Keyes 1931 Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs and Associate Director of Curatorial Affairs, for International Slow Art Day. Pick up a list of the selected artworks at the front desk, find them in the galleries, and spend 5–10 minutes with each.
