This event focuses on the increasing presence of dance programs in museums and galleries. The program will feature a 4:30pm performance by the Five College Dance Department in the museum, followed by a panel discussion in Graham auditorium at 5pm. This international trend has fostered unprecedented collaboration between dancers and curators, catalyzed new modes of spectatorship for dance and museum, and opened fresh possibilities for intermedia, site-specific projects at the intersection of dance and the visual arts.

This special installation, from SCMA's collection, traces the unique histories of over 20 of the Museum’s most important works of African art. New research has connected artists with objects that were previously unattributed, while the roles of collectors and donors are examined in conjunction with the objects’ own cultural histories and meanings.
Henriette Kets de Vries is the Cunningham Center Manager and Assistant Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs at the SCMA. She worked closely with Kurt Lang and featured works from his collection in the exhibition No Man's Land: Prints from the Front Lines of WWI.
