The Smith College Museum of Art is a leader among academic museums, setting the standards for how a museum can support teaching and learning on a college campus, nurture lifelong learners and contribute to the life of its community and society at large. Gifts of art
SCMA accepts select gifts of art for its permanent collection. Our Curatorial Council reviews gift offers and considers factors including the quality of the artwork, its appropriateness to the museum’s educational mission and collection, and its provenance.
Gifts of art may be tax deductible. Donors should consult their tax advisors for details. If related to Smith's educational mission, the gift may generate a tax deduction for the full market value as determined by a qualified independent appraiser. The museum is not permitted to appraise artworks or to recommend appraisers, but can supply names of appraisal services.
If you are considering a gift of art, please email artmuseum@smith.edu or call 413-585-2760.
